The screenshot of Po you used on 2:54 pretty much sums up my reaction. XD This film really sucked and was so disappointing, especially compared to the first three films. What's even worse is the behind-the-scenes information. Did you know KFP4 was going to be a live-action/animation hybrid akin to Roger Rabbit and Zhen and the Chameleon were going to be HUMANS from a city called Hu-Man City (I'm not joking, that was literally the name)?? And Po was going to be stuck in a box for TWENTY MINUTES?? Mike Mitchell did not watch the other three films, one of the animators from the previous movies up and left, and the one woman who wanted this film to stay true to Kung Fu Pandas 1 and 2 (Stephanie Stine) was constantly ignored and dismissed as a "nobody". She wanted the film to have more heart and not as much comedy, but Michell did not want to do that. Nobody wanted to listen to her, and none of the writers behind this film could take constructive criticism. The Furious Five, Lord Shen, and Kai were added AT THE LAST MINUTE and solely for fan-service, Zhen and the Chameleon's backstories (if you can even call them backstories in the final product) were added at the last minute, and Zhen's (unearned) redemption/fight with Po before they faced off against the Chameleon was added at the last minute. The plot was very predictable, and I couldn't buy into Po and Zhen's friendship at all. I also didn't find most of the jokes very funny and found Zhen to be kind of annoying (she was an overly snarky character voiced by Scuttlebutt, so it's to be expected, I guess), and her redemption was very forced and unearned because her backstory was very underdeveloped and her relationship with Po was rushed. I just couldn't buy that they became friends because there weren't enough screen-time or scenes that tested their bond. Her backstory with the Chameleon was so underdeveloped. Most of the time, during her scenes with Po and her scenes with Chameleon, I just felt like I was missing more scenes or something. Zhen's status as the Chameleon's adoptive-daughter had potential, but the scenes with them were so quick it was underwhelming and I really didn't feel anything when she betrayed Po. It didn't help that I had accidentally spoiled myself with the reveal that she was the Chameleon's pupil, but it was still pretty obvious, I probably would have figured it out by myself if I hadn't gotten briefly spoiled. It also felt kinda OOC for the villains Po fought to bow before him and show respect after everything they did to him and after Po foiled their plans. On paper, it sounds like an interesting idea, but because they all came back at the very last minute and for fan-service, there wasn't any time to properly flesh it all out. Before the trailers came out, I also wasn't expecting it to be yet another "Hero has to pass on the torch" story EVERYONE in Hollywood seems to be obsessed with doing to their old popular heroes now. And I remember thinking to myself as I was watching it, but WHY does Po need a successor? He's in his 20's? He's too fucking young to pass on his Dragon Warrior title. Some other video I found mentioned that it would have been cool if Tigress had been chosen to be Po's successor, and honestly that would have made more sense. Po and Zhen's bond was very rushed and it didn't help that there was so much padding and pointless scenes like the dumb tavern, and Po's fathers Li and Mr. Ping going after them, and then doing a repeat of the pointless tavern scene, and then doing more dumb hi-jinks in the city. Tigress fought and trained hard to achieve the position for years anyway, Po knows her much longer than he knows Zhen, and Zhen didn't earn it at all. The Chameleon had a neat design and powers, but was still very bland and very lacking in nuance compared to Tai Lung, Lord Shen, and Kai, and her defeat was very anticlimactic. I also found her backstory to be very under-cooked. We were told and shown Tai Lung's past, we were told and shown Lord Shen's past, we were shown and told Kai's past, but Chameleon? We got very little of her. We didn't even get proper flashbacks showing us her past, unlike the three previous villains. They explained her motivation and what she wants, but it was so bare-boned. She turned to evil because they couldn't teach her kung-fu because she was too small... but we had a literal praying mantis who learned it just fine?? Dude was even smaller than she was. Like, wha? Also, how did she teach Zhen, her adopted daughter, all those kung-fu moves if she didn't know kung-fu herself? Or did Zhen just learn her moves on the streets? How? Who taught her if it wasn't her foster-mother? That didn't make sense. Also, I disagree with the trailer that the Chameleon was Po's greatest enemy. Lord Shen was Po's greatest enemy on a much more personal level. And the Chameleon's first appearance had so much potential that was wasted. In Kung Fu Panda, Tai Lung's establishing character moment was an epic prison break scene, establishing his brute strength and cunning as he fought off the rhinoceros guards. In Kung Fu Panda 2, Lord Shen first appeared committing a fucking genocide in the past, then made his first appearance fighting two Kung-fu masters, pulling out his cannon and blasting the shit out of them when it seemed like he was gonna lose. And in Kung Fu Panda 3, General Kai made his first appearance attacking Master Oogway and stealing his qi, using it to return to the world of the living. The Chameleon? Her first establishing character moment was PUSH SOMEONE DOWN SOME STAIRS. It also made zero sense on why Kai was back in the Spirit Realm? Dude got blown up within the Spirit Realm, rendering him deader than dead. So how was he back in the Spirit Realm? And wasn't Lord Shen not a kung fu master, so why was he in the Spirit Realm...? I doubt Mike Mitchell even watched the previous movies. Also, I expected the scene where the Chameleon brought back Tai Lung to be in the beginning of the movie, and so Po would have had to face off against him again, only to discover Tai Lung lost his Kung fu. Maybe after getting his Kung fu stolen by the Chameleon, Tai Lung would have had to work with Po to stop her. The first draft where Shifu was kidnapped by the Chameleon, sending Po to rescue him, and Shifu getting to say goodbye to Tai Lung sounded so much better than the final project. Tai Lung getting a redemption arc would have fit with the plot too. When I heard Kung-fu Panda was going to be a series of six films, I was so excited and curious to see where it would go. But after this film, I have very little hope for the rest of the series...

Did you forget the fact Riley was on the brink of losing her friends? That can leave an emotionally devastating hole in one's psyche, fundamentally altering who they see themselves as, especially in one's early teen years. I'd say that raises the stakes a bit. Also, when you think about what Riley was doing during the climax of each film, the first one had her getting on a bus, whereas the second saw her experiencing a full blown anxiety attack. The reason for her actions in the first may have been more extreme, but the sequel's visual intensity showcased both inside and out (heh) made for a far more emotionally resonant climax overall. I never had to move far away from home, but I know all too well what it's like to have a panic attack, and they hit it dead-on! It's a relatable situation that's more likely to affect more people. So, I'm going to have to disagree with you, man. Inside Out was excellent, but the sequel, in my honest opinion, outdid it in a lot of different ways.

Considering what Disney Pixar has been doing lately with their beloved franchises, doing nothing particularly different is a refreshing step in the right direction. No DEI or woke messaging shoved down our throats with the subtlety of a sledgehammer is an actual improvement.

I never saw Morph and Jubilee interact much. She arrived around the time of his death, he sent her to the FoH as revenge for her thinking she can take his place when he was Dark Morph, and they sat together at Scott and Jean's second wedding, but we never see them interact. What's their friendship like? Will we get Colossus back? Xavier shoulda interacted with Corsair, Scott's father, during his time with the Shi'arr. I liked Magneto in the 90s show and saw him as a potential redeemed hero, but yeah, this show took it too far and didn't handle it right. Regarding Rogue joining Magneto, someone shoulda snapped her out of it by saying she's no better than Mystique and that she was avoiding the truth, that SHE got Gambit killed for making him think she cared more for Magneto than him upon his death, or something along those lines. We need Havok to finally learn Cyclops is his brother, that was hinted in the original when they fought and their powers didn't work on each, but never came out with it.

Sorry, looks crap, full of cliches. Agreed Alien is awesome but bettered by Aliens not least by the fact that the Alien is Alien is clearly a bloke in a suit. Alien 3 was crap but i thought Prometheus was ok apart from the cgi last few minutes... Needs Cameron to stop pissing about with friendly Aliens and get onboard !

Saw this one last night. Yes the plot was very similar to the original. But overall I found it a cute movie and a fun time. No woke messaging whatsoever.

Pixar has a chance of coming back. But it needs to stop being it save and take risks again for that is how greatness is gained.

Yeah, watching this series has pained me. The only thing more troubling than this badly paced, whiplashing misery rollercoaster of character assassination and magneto worship has been the constant reviews fellating Beau DeMayo as if he did a good job. Seriously, the people praising this crap have me losing faith in humanity.

Toy Story after the original were all basically t just a retelling of the original. Star Wars episodes 7-9 were just episodes 4-6 retold This is how Disney does sequels!!!

How many new emotions show up in this movie ? I feel like it would be way much, much more for a teenager.

This one and Terminator somehow kept bringing the fans back for more with only 2 good movies and a bunch of mid to bad ones after that. That is kinda impressive.

Pixar is a "brain off" movie. They do need a decent story but the majority of the time is waiting for the characters to be funny. The story can't really be more mature than the target audience.

I forgot to add... One moral of the story is "joy can beat anxiety" and that is such a terrible message.

I am offended at the insinuation this is the first movie all over again. This one sucks, I had high hopes for this one but expected the regular woke crap. It disappointed me in all ways (although I appreciate a lot that there was not the expected forced inclusion ) but all else is yucky. And as a mental health advocate, I hate it even more. So much potential thrown away. But in this day and age I guess I should only be thankful they didnt give Riley a girlfriend or that the conflict was not about her having gender identity issue or she was turned into a ho. That alone grants it a 7/10

I have no hope. They are likely doing Age of Apocalypse... and doing it bad. And they are bound to steer this all toward that horrible Krakoa story arc to bring back all the people they killed off.

I've seen the good reviews, but this summarizes exactly why I don't want to see it. I liked the first movie, but it didn't need a sequel because any sequel is just going to repeat the first one.

I get that hockey practice is low stakes, but I’d say that’s part of what made Anxiety such a great antagonist. She’s blowing every little thing out of proportion because that’s what anxiety does to you. When it takes control, it makes everything bigger and more significant than it actually is. Whether or not Riley makes a hockey team at a specific time isn’t a big deal, but anxiety makes life feel like a set of dominoes where the slightest error ruins everything. And by feeling it so strongly…….it becomes real to her, hence the panic attack.

Me and my daughter enjoyed the movie. A breath of fresh air. No politics or bull shit agendas. KK should take a stroll over to Pixar for some pointers...

the "moral" of the story is that you should avoid "ignoring things you don't like", and embrace yourself, for all of who you are. you are not a good person, if you just choose to forget all the bad things you did. you are not a subset of what you have done, you are everything, put together (for better or worse).

There's nothing wrong with them playing it a bit safe, but when you basically recreate the previous movie, just with more characters, that leaves the question of why this movie even exists. A few genuinely great scenes don't make a movie great on the whole
